Democracy & Institutions

We study how democratic institutions are designed, eroded and rebuilt across Latin America: electoral systems, legislative quality, judicial independence, fiscal federalism and public administration. Our work combines comparative institutional analysis with long-run empirical evidence.

Economy & Development

We analyse the macroeconomic and institutional conditions for development: fiscal and monetary regimes, industrial policy, labour markets, informality and inequality. We aim for concrete, costed proposals compatible with fiscal sustainability.

Science & Technology

We work on the funding and organisation of national science systems, the formation of technological capability, and the emerging rules for artificial-intelligence systems in public administration and in the market.

We study the energy transition in resource-exporting countries, climate adaptation policy in cities and territories, and governance regimes for the ocean, water and forests.
